How Containers Are Unloaded From Ships

Containers safely house cargoes transported on ships.  Containers are measured in TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit). A TEU is 20-feet long,

8-feet wide, and 8-feet tall. Two TEUs equal one FEU (forty-foot equivalent unit).

Large ships are able to carry between 18,000 TEUs and 21,000 TEUs. It is estimated that in 2021, global container throughput reached approximately 849 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

When a ship gets to its destination, the containers are unloaded by the port cranes. The process of moving containers out of the ship is called UNLOADING.
